Burrville Cider Mill
Published October 12th, 2006 in Fruit, Local SpotlightThe past weekend was marked with glorious warm fall weather, so we decided to take a run up to a cider mill that we stumbled upon last year. The Burrville Cider Mill is located near Watertown, NY and is one of the oldest structures in the area, having been built in 1801 (originally as a sawmill and gristmill). There are many varieties of apples available (much cheaper than you will find at the grocery store, most likely - we got 16 lbs for $8!), as well as cider, cheese, maple syrup, jellies and jams, fudge, and other goodies. And the smell that hits you as soon as you step out of your car is that of fresh cider donuts being made to order…!!!
This is one of those places that I am torn about. I want to tell everyone because it’s the perfect fall daytrip, but I also want to keep it under wraps so that it stays small and perfect and not completely overrun by visitors. If you are near Watertown at all, though, the Burrville Cider Mill is definitely worth the drive!

The Donut Robot making fresh cider donuts and, further down, two bozos enjoying them. I feel compelled to mention that I got a haircut yesterday and, hence, my hair no longer looks as it does in the photo.

Am I the only one who find those Donut Robots utterly hypnotic?
Glad you enjoyed the cider mill. I am one of the owners and I am glad you enjoyed your visit. I promise that we will always keep the mill a ‘family’ operation. Please introduce yourself the next time you stop in. Also, the pictures you posted were great.
PS. Be careful about watching that donut machine for too long, you’ll find yourself trying to eat as many donuts as possible just so it will keep running.
Thank you! We will definitely keep visiting for years to come.
